Desalination
The scarcity of water in Chile is an increasingly pressing challenge. The country is experiencing an alarming decline in its water resources due to factors such as climate change. This situation affects various sectors, such as agriculture, industry and domestic supplies. The effects become evident in prolonged drought, reducing agricultural productivity. This is why water desalination plants are crucial for water security, turning salt water into fresh water, guaranteeing access to clean water, mitigating scarcity and strengthening communities.
The Coquimbo Region project contemplates the construction of a desalination plant of more than 1200 l/s, in order to supply the sanitary use of the area, in addition to supplying the demand in the area of agriculture that has been weakened, and also for industrial use.
The desalination plant located in the O'Higgins Region will generate around 1000 l/s, in an area that has become increasingly aware of the scarcity of water as a result of climate change, with a sharp decrease in rainfall, with a reduction in up to 60% of the rainfall during the last 15 years.
